How Important Is Carpet Maintenance?

Carpet has many benefits, it provides for a comfortable cozy living environment, it is a good insulator and keeps warm air in, and it is easy to maintain.  One of carpets down falls is how expensive it is.

The first and most important is regular vacuuming.  Leaving soil in your carpet for an extended period of time can allow the soil to become deeply embedded into the carpet fibers, making them even more difficult to extract.  Carpet owners should vacuum at least once a week.

The second is having your carpets cleaned professionally at least twice a year.  Most major carpet manufacturers recommend a professional cleaning every six months.  When you do have your carpets cleaned make sure to have Teflon carpet protector applied.  This will protect your carpets from soils, stains, and spills.
